In response to an increasing demand for training and management of patients requiring a tracheostomy to maintain airway control, UniTeam has developed the Tracheostomy Management Skills Course to assist nurses and other support workers in providing high quality and safe patient care. As an accredited provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission (ANCC), UniTeam is proud to offer this new course to nursing and support workers currently caring for patients with a tracheostomy.
Participants of the course will learn about offering a patient-centered approach to managing a tracheostomy, concepts to enhance their patient communication skills, and develop an improved technical competence to assure and assist patients in adapting and managing a tracheostomy.
The course will enable participants to explore concepts of contemporary indications for tracheostomy insertions, complications, and theory of care and management, in order to develop knowledge and skills. The purpose of this competency-based course is to ensure that nurses and support workers have the knowledge, understanding, and clinical skills to perform tracheostomy care to patients in a confident, safe, and competent manner.
The delivery mediums of this course includes lectures, practical sessions and group discussions which will guide the participant to link theories with practice through critical skills assessment and clinical competencies.
Tracheostomy Management Skills course is accredited for 11.5 Category 1 Continuing Medical Education hours by the Health Authority Abu Dhabi.
