On the 1st February, 2016 the World Health Organisation declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on Zika virus due to the observed increase in two neurological disorders, namely microcephaly, and Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). HAAD has released a Circular (DG/07/16) requiring healthcare facilities to report all suspected Zika cases, as well any cases of microcephaly in patients with a travel history to countries with sustained Zika transmission.
In response to this growing threat, UniTeam identified the need to develop a Zika Virus Infection Awareness course to inform and prepare healthcare professionals in the UAE.
The course has been developed for healthcare professionals who require an awareness of the Zika Virus infection, its symptoms and treatment practices. The course is also suitable for those who are interested in updating their knowledge about Zika Virus Infection.
